Είναι δέντρο πολύ ψηλό και πυκνόφυλλο, που δύο συγκεκριμένους μήνες τον χρόνο χαράζεται με ειδικά μαχαίρια ο κορμός του. Το λιβάνι τρέχει από τις χαρακιές και στη συνέχεια το μαζεύουν. Χρησιμοποιείται επίσης στην φαρμακευτική και την αρωματοποιία.
